The 1954 Movie “Johnny Dark” starring Tony Curtis and Piper Laurie marked the first appearance in a movie by several noted drivers including Phil Hill, Louis Tomei, Dick Freeland, and Chuck Tatum – who drove his own car. Three of the remaining drivers went on to become some of Hollywood’s best known stuntmen including Carey Loftin, Johnny Daheim, and H Haile Chace. The remaining driver was Eric Irwin who drove his own car too – a car he designed and built called the “Irwin Lancer.” — Geoff Hacker and Chuck Tatum (2011)
