Fiberglass Facts
In early 1952, Hugh Jorgensen and Doc Boyce-Smith designed the Victress S1 Roadster. Doc wanted a car that would – out Jag the Jaguar XK120. To this end, they used a horizonal grill as opposed to the vertical Jaguar grill, rounded sides instead of slab sides, a more-defined rear fender, the same wheelbase as the Jaguar, but wider track for American running gear.
— Merrill Powell: Co-Owner of Victress 1954-1961, Personal Communication 2007Who's Online
